Foster Familes

Alternative Care Program

Our goal is, first and foremost, to keep our families together.

If it becomes necessary to remove a child from their home, KANI’s Alternative Care Program will provide a safe, nurturing, and loving environment for a child to thrive and grow in.

We always try to place children within their biological family first. Family/kinship placements have been proven to lessen the trauma that occurs when removal is necessary.

Sometimes, it’s not possible to place a child within their family. When we’ve exhausted all the possible biological placements, KANI’s Alternative Care Department can offer Alternative Care Providers who have been assessed and trained by our team to provide the stability and care needed by a child during a difficult time.

Alternative Care Principles

The KANI Alternative Care Program is run on several key principles:

  • To provide emergency placement services to children
  • To provide support and to advocate for family/kinship placements first
  • To provide training opportunities for Together Care Providers
  • To ensure a child’s safety and well-being are the primary goal

We are currently seeking additional Alternative Care Providers for the community. Find out more by calling us today at 204-560-6565.

All interested persons will be considered as potential Alternative Care Providers, without regard for gender, ethnicity, culture, religious beliefs, economic background, marital status, or sexual orientation.

Together, we can provide the care and love that every child needs to be safe.
