Kinonje Abinoonjiiag Niigan Inc. (KANI)
KANI is one of 11 agencies who receive mandate and oversight from the Southern First Nations Network of Care (SFNNC).
We are run by, and for, our people. Our organization is governed by a Board of Directors comprised of five community members and experts, including KFN’s Chief as non-voting ex-officio member. We believe that by using this approach we are doing what is best for our own community.
KANI provides services and supports that foster the well-being of KFN children, while working with parents to create a safe and nurturing environment for their families:
- We offer preventative services and supports, for both children and their families.
- For those in need, we offer access to kinship care under our trained supervision with a goal of reuniting families as soon as possible.
- We advocate for KFN children and their families.
- We work with partner organizations like LSMS School, the Health Centre, and Jordan’s Principle
- We host events for our children in care, caregivers, and families both on-reserve and off to connect to our KFN community and teachings.
- We work closely with leadership of KFN to ensure the best outcomes for our community.
- We work to be ready for changes coming in the Child Welfare Laws because of Bill C-92 to be able to serve our community in the best way possible.
